Instagram to Remove Photo Maps
Instagram is removing its photo map feature [Figure 1] from all Instagram accounts. The announcement came today and the Update is already rolling out and applies to both personal and business accounts. The Instagram photo map feature allowed users to tag photos with location data. Instagram users could use maps to show places they have visited. The photo maps were not used often and that is why Instagram is removing this feature.

Instagram is a mobile device only photo sharing social media app. The app has over 500 million monthly active users and about 300 million daily users. Instagram, owned by Facebook, has almost a 50-50 female-male user ratio, although only 20% of US users are female. Over 90% of Instagram users are under 35 years of age.
Earlier this year Instagram added new features such as, Instagram business accounts, Instagram stories and Instagram Live. This is the only feature to be removed in the latest round of Instagram updates.
